I bought the plans, clement mods, and stanton assembly manual after i sold my tailwind project thinking that i would start another one. It was announced on the tailwind forum that prolific tailwind builder jim clement died from a stroke. A buick 300ci crank will fit with only minor mod. It's just not in the cards for me right. Olds v8 powered, inverted and direct drive. I did a normal rebuild with all new technology stuff. These came with a tailwind project i purchased some time ago. I have 3 sheets of 1/16 plywood and 6 sheets of 3/32 4 ft x 8 ft.

If the distance between spars differed between the tailwind and cougar, how were the attachments adapted on your frankenstein? My recollection is that he built around 11 tailwinds. The tailwind was designed for speed! i just think it is one of the best looking high wing monoplanes you can build, but would prefer to fly something a little slower and in the lsa. The original wing construction is built up wing with ply wood skins. I'm not sure if that. It will easily fly at 170 at 3100 i have almost 300.

These Came With A Tailwind Project I Purchased Some Time Ago.

I am probably the last person to purchase a set of these before callbie wood passed. The tailwind was designed for speed! i just think it is one of the best looking high wing monoplanes you can build, but would prefer to fly something a little slower and in the lsa. It has a rajay turbo. I think the differences are spar spacing for the tailwind is 25”, 24” for cougar, gear, wittman’s patent was in full swing, trim on a cougar is cub style, sloppy ones known to flutter.

My Recollection Is That He Built Around 11 Tailwinds.
